How To Guide

5 or 20 gallon bucket (depending on your kit)
    Water
    Bag of Ice Cubes
Small Spoon or Spatula (for scraping the good stuff off !)
Large spoon (for mixing the ice/leaf material in bucket)
Mixer / Blender (hand-held food mixer or drill with paint mixer)
Fully dried then frozen leaf and trim material (keep in freezer until use)
    Small clean cloth/towel for blotting

  1. Ensure the bucket is clean.

  2. Place the bags into the bucket in order (#1 first, #2 second followed by #3).  #3 is the coarsest mesh for the 3-bag kits and #5 for the 5-bag kits.  Ensure that the color side is what you see in the bucket – not the backing.

  3. Fill the bucket with COLD water.  As cold as you can get it !  Fill to within 3 inches of the top.

  4. Add your ice to the cold water.  Ensure you add enough that it will not melt too quickly.  You need to be able to keep the ice from disappearing for about 1 hour while you complete the entire process.  You can also add additional ice during the process to replace melted ice.

  5. The leaf & trim should be FULLY DRIED and kept in the freezer until required.  Put a generous amount (up to ˝ lb) of leaf & trim material into the water/ice.

  6. Use the mixer and fully mix the water, leaf material and ice for 15-20 minutes.  This will ensure all of the good stuff is knocked off the trim / bud.  Use a large spoon to scrape the material away from the sides.  This will avoid the bags getting tangled with the beaters.  You can also use the spoon to stir the material from top to bottom and mix it about.

  7. Once you have completed mixing, let the mixture stand for 30 minutes.  Do not disturb during this process.

  8. Now that it has settled completely, carefully pull out the first bag (will be #3 or #5 that you put into the bucket).  Be careful not to spill and let it drain completely back into the bucket containing the other bags.  The draining can be assisted by carefully squeezing the bag.

  9. Now the bag has been drained which contains all the green leaf & stem material.  I usually run mine through twice and perhaps 3 times as I usually use a lot of small bud in my mix.  If you want to run through again, put the material aside in the freezer in a plastic bag to keep cool but you will have to restart the process immediately after finishing this process so it does not turn into a block of ice.

  10. If you are not going to process a 2nd or 3rd time, dispose of the green material and clean the bag immediately after removing the material within.  Ensure you clean carefully and get all of the bits and pieces out.  It works best to clean inside out.  Once clean, set aside somewhere to dry ensuring that it is fully open to the air and not folded in any way.

  11. Now that the ‘green’ bag has been cleaned and put aside for drying, the solution has had a bit more time to settle.  Ensure you allow 15 minutes minimum before starting the next step.

  12. Now, carefully remove the next bag from the bucket.  Allow the solution to drain slowly through the bottom of the bags.  You can assist in the draining by lifting and dropping the bag (imagine kids on a jolly-jumper but less motion :-)) which will cause any material to lift off the bottom and float around to allow for better draining.  It may take a bit of time to drain.  Ensure you drain back into the bucket containing the remaining bags.

  13. Once all of the water has drained through, the next step is to harvest what has been left behind.  Get a small container with a bit of cold water and wash the insides of the bags gently to gather the hash together near the center of the bottom of the bag’s mesh.

  14. Now, get a plastic bowl or another bucket and stretch the bottom of the bag over the top keeping it flat & taught.

  15. Using your spoon, spatula or similar , carefully scrape off the material off the bottom as to not damage the mesh and place onto a small plate for later.

  16. Clean the bag the same as first (inside out) but instead wash back into the bucket so you don't waste anything.  Ensure it is fully cleaned and set aside for drying.

  17. Now that the bag has been cleaned and put aside for drying, the solution has had a bit more time to settle – allow 15 minutes minimum.

  18. Carefully remove the next bag from the bucket.  Allow the solution to drain through the bottom of the bags.  Again, you can assist in draining by lifting and dropping the bag.  This will take even longer to drain than the last bag as the holes are even smaller.

  19. Once all of the water has drained through, the next step is to harvest what has been left behind.  Follow the same procedure and carefully pour water inside the bag to collect the hash and harvest the product.  Place onto a small plate for later.

  20. Clean the bag the same as the others and put aside for drying.

  21. This will complete the 3-bag process.  Continue this process until all of the bags have been removed for the 5-bag system.

  22. For the 3-bag system, you will be left with 2 grades of hash with the final bag you remove containing the better of the two.

  23. For the 5-bag system, you will get 4 grades of hash with the final bag being the best and the subsequent 3 being slightly lesser quality as you progress from the #2 to #4 bag.

  24. If you are running your material through a 2nd or 3rd time,  reuse the water in the bucket, reinsert your bags in 1-2-3 order.  Add more ice if required, remix and start back at step #7.

  25. Now to complete the last step.  Get the plate with the grades and get the blotting cloth which came with your kit.

  26. Carefully put one of the blobs  you harvested onto the centre of the blotting cloth.  Fold the blotting cloth in half, place between a folded towel and carefully press the water out of the material.

  27. Unfold and remove the material which should be reasonably dry.  I usually let it air dry for another 24 hours in a flatter form before I mould it into a ball or block.  You should also wait 24 hours after making it before you taste test it otherwise it will not burn properly.

  28. Repeat this step again for the other harvest grades.

  29. Clean the blotting cloth carefully under warm water and put aside for drying.  You can also clean with a mild detergent if required but ensure you do not abuse the mesh too much

  30. That is it !  The product is tastes great, has good potency and I am sure everyone you know will want some from you !
